An alternate take on Reichenbach where, through yet-undisclosed methods, nefarious forces manipulate innocent forces and convince John that not only was Sherlock fake, he never existed in the first place. As he struggles to cope, he finds himself still thinking of Sherlock when he’s alone, despite no longer having ‘hallucinations’ of him.
Sent to the countryside to recuperate and left to his own devices, John slowly corrupts his fantasies of Sherlock from the platonic to the romantic.
Sherlock reunites with John much earlier and more accidentally than he planned, and sets out to return his name to the phone book with a blissfully lovestruck army doctor who thinks he's gone mad by his side.
