    Summary

After three months of weekend bar-hopping and a slow process of elimination -- with finding the right bar, that was, and tragically not discovering who Bones was into -- Jim was starting to narrow it down. Bones was actively scowling less, which seemed like a good sign, but Jim still didn’t quite have it right, and lo, he was determined.

Operation: Bones, Lighten Up was making staggeringly slow progress. But Jim liked Bones and his vocal method of observation, so that wasn’t necessarily a problem. They noticed the same things, Jim had noted, but had totally different reactions to them, and that struck Jim as very entertaining. Burdened both by less work and the according ethic than Bones, Jim regularly went out with others during the week (and usually came home with others, too), but he still found himself looking forward to weekend evenings most. Bones was by far his preferred bar-going companion. And in spite of Bones’ frequent biting remarks and utterances about regretting ever having met him, Jim suspected the feeling was mutual.

    Summary

“Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” – Albert Einstein

Jim Kirk is nervous about starting in a new school, especially as a Second-in-Department. His nerves aren't soothed by the fact that his department seems to be made of an army of geniuses in their fields. While he's stressing about his own lessons, how to make his Department Head Spock like him enough to take his suggestions on board, and how the hell to get the school board to agree to paint the school corridors something other than grey, he meets Biology Teacher Leonard McCoy. The doctor is gruff, has given up on teaching but Jim sees a brilliance in him he can't describe. He makes it his personal mission to help McCoy, without realizing he's falling in love at the same time.

    Summary

Silva never went rogue, and is one of the top agents of MI6 - along with Bond, who may not be as good with computers, but is arguably the better shot. The two get along (even if Silva is an egomaniac), and MI6 is running smoothly. The only drama they have outside of missions is the fact that Silva wants to be Quartermaster, and is willing to bully anyone to get the job. Unfortunately, he's smart enough to get it, being a computer genius with few morals.

But then the unthinkable happens: a hacker appears, a hacker who can take apart MI6 like a child taking apart a puzzle. The hacker is fast, erratic, and more ingenius than even the outraged Silva.

And Bond is intrigued, and amazed despite himself.

I don't know where this story is going, but this is where it starts. The Q we know and love from 'Skyfall' never entered MI6, and instead is running scared on the outside, with the world pulling at his leash. A mind as powerful as Q's is only as benevolent as the hand that holds the leash...
