    Summary

"We’re alive in defiance of the law, now,” Natasha said bitterly.

“Well,” Steve said, and pushed his plate away. “We’ll just have to break in and get them.”

“Right, let’s take it from the top,” Natasha said wearily. “The Raft is a fully submersible supermax prison—“

“We can do it,” Steve said.

    Summary

Seven years, and Sebastian's lost track of the number of inside jokes and laughs, of early morning rehearsals and late nights filming. The camaraderie during the grueling press tours and the easiness of the banter at fan conventions. Lost track of the number of times he's had his cock inside Chris' ass, the hot, tight feel of him, how the first deep slide home always jolts through him like a punch. He's lost track of the number of times Chris has pinned him down and fucked him until he's seen stars, until he's wrung out and unable to move and still aching for more.

Seven years and Sebastian still couldn't say when it all changed for him. When what they have started to feel...less. Like something's missing or lacking or just beyond his reach. Like that shorthand is now a shortcut. Lazy instead of comforting.

    Summary

“I watched a documentary on the bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima a while ago. In the blast radius, sometimes a… a person blocked the bleaching effect of the radiation. So the person was vaporized, but a shadow was left behind, on a bridge or a wall – their shape, their outline, when they were completely gone," Steve said. "It’s called a nuclear shadow.”

“If you’re implying the Soldier is like a nuclear shadow, then that is seriously fucking dark, man,” Sam said dryly.

    OR

Before the fall of the Soviet Union, the Winter Soldier was sent to the American arm of Hydra - only there was a malfunction in the cryo-unit that meant it couldn't be opened, and it was left, powered but abandoned, in an underground base.

25 years later, the Avengers find it.

    Summary

    But Steve was fine.

Sure, he hadn’t seen Bucky in months, and sometimes he was at the punching bag so long that his skin started to peel off to expose the bones of his fingers, and sometimes he couldn’t find the energy to drag himself out of bed, and sometimes he went weeks without sleeping, and sometimes he thought about throwing himself head-first off the nearest tall structure, but he was fine.

He was absolutely, perfectly, one-hundred percent, fucking fine.

    AKA
In which Steve learns how to deal with his shit, and Bucky learns how to stop leaving.
