Terrific gripping case fic, really well written. Angsty in a good way because you know it'll end okay- my only complaint is that the payoff, romantically, was not quite all I'd hoped. We had a lot of angst from John's perspective, but never got to appreciate them getting together from his POV which was sort of what I'd waited for and would have been more satisfying emotionally. Still, there was a nice romantic conclusion, and it didn't cut off too quickly but showed them together a little more after the realization which was nice.

John Watson thinks Sherlock Holmes should admit that he, Watson, is more of an expert on sex than Sherlock is. But Sherlock refuses to concede the point. He comes up with an experiment plan that will resolve the issue. The results will determine who wins the prize. But sometimes even the best thought-out scientific study has unexpected consequences.

LOVE THIS. I read this story, despite my dislike of angst and misery and most of all, unhappy endings; even so, I read it, knowing how the original ends and braced for it, because it was so good and well done that I couldn't not. And lo and behold, I was rewarded! I will say no more, only-- you should read it! I would never have imagined that the characters of Sherlock could so perfectly fit as the cast of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Remarkable.
