Written November 2000, the stories in Changing Perceptions were created in response to Picture # 2 in the Picture Challenge submitted for the Aestheticism Fanfic Contest Take #3.
This picture was of a young dark haired man dressed only in a red robe lying upon a futon. The robe was pulled down enough to see that he had red roses tattooed upon his back and a blue butterfly on the inside of his left thigh. In truth, the picture was a fan drawing of Aoshi from Rurouni Kenshin. A character who was known to have many scars criss crossing his chest, though not the tattoos as shown by the picture.
For the contest, however, I chose not to write about Aoshi or about the Rurouni Kenshin universe, but created an original work.
