Summary
This is a world with numbers instead of names. This is a world of one-way glass. This is a world in which mutants are animals, and will be treated as such.

Summary
"This isn't a concentration camp," Delta says, calm, like he's been rehearsing it. Erik looks at the gun on his hip, the guards behind him in the corridor, the bars between them.
He smiles with a lot of teeth. "I think I'd know that better than you."
AU in which the beach divorce didn't happen and Erik decides to stay and help Charles start his school. But despite their clean break, the government isn't ready to let the mutants disappear into hiding.

Summary
He sends letters, of course, because out in the sticks there's not much to do except tend to Westchester's endless affairs. And, of course, avoid tending to those affairs by going on walks, riding, and writing letters that make him hard and thrill secretly when he hands the properly-sealed, addressed envelope to the butler.
I was in London the other day, and in a bookseller's along The Strand I found the most interesting and instructive volume. Or rather, it would have proved instructive if we had not already worked our way through much of the repertoire.

Bookmarker's Notes
Another face-clawingly good fic from aesc. This one combines dramatic imagery (from the scenery to letters), elegant speech patterns, and propriety with raw sex. Set against a vague backdrop of social struggle. I particularly love it for an Erik in the vein of Proudhon.

Summary
It’s Charles’ final year of high school and the only thing left standing in the way of his graduation and his dream of attending Oxford are the final examinations. It’ll be a piece of cake – that is until his principal delivers him the worst news of his teenage life and throws him in for an extra hurdle he’s not prepared for. As it stands, there are now two things he must do: final examinations and eight extra credits that need to be earned in order to complete his high school education. As it turns out, only one person can help him with the latter: Erik Lehnsherr.

The exact opposite of heavy-handed. I wish there were more fics like this in the fandom: beautiful stories of relationships without an emphasis on getting laid.
Highly recommended.

Likely the most unexpectedly philosophical and true rendering of robot love I have read online and gives much of the published works a run for their money.

Summary
Erik is a fisherman who lives in a cottage by the sea; it's a quiet, secluded life, and he enjoys it that way. Charles has a bump on his head, with no memory of why he was dangling off the side of a dock, unconscious and nearly frozen to death. Based on a kink meme prompt.

I'm fairly certain this is the best Tony & Loki PWP (or anything else for that matter) on the planet.

Splendid, splendid, Erik imagines Charles saying. He wonders if Nightwatch registers the warmth of Charles's regard the way Erik does.
[Or, plot as an excuse for porn involving chaps and leather gloves.]

Summary
Many of the pressures in Charles Xavier's life -- the sacrifices Erik and Charles make to be together -- the constant tension of being closeted -- Charles' relationship to the Church he once served as a priest -- his distance from his sister -- come to the forefront in 1967. Because in that year, for Charles, peace is no longer an option.

Summary
He has technique, skill, efficiency, but he lacks passion, love, and creativity. He’s clean cut; professional, so he doesn’t know why this other man, this man who owns a dirty apron, and who wields a blunt knife, can best him at what he knows best.

Summary
Years later, Charles would remember that day. Sometimes he would wonder if he could have changed anything; other times he would despair over what he had since become. But he would always hold the image in his mind: Raven, laughing, and his thoughts flying alongside her on strong wings, silver-gold through the winter air. Once upon a time.
More details, if desired, here. (Spoilers.)
