  1. Summary

People thought life was tough in 1983; oil shortages and high mortgage rates and nuclear war on the horizon, but then something broke through the veil and it really became tough. People died by the hundreds of millions. Miles and miles of land became unusable. Communication, transportation, civil law… all of them were just wisps of what they should have been.

The government threw out reasons for the disaster that didn’t explain how Dust became a living thing covering half of North America, or how a virus turned people evil and then made them disappear, and they certainly didn’t explain why magic was suddenly real.

Gabriel should have known that hanging around with Trickster gods would bring him nothing but trouble but it sounded like such a good idea at the time. Besides, it was all the Winchesters' fault and that was going to be his excuse for the rest of eternity.

    Bookmarker's Notes

There are so many instances in this fic where you've captured the team's voices perfectly. And the angst was nicely balanced by both action and character. A wonderful fic!

In which a ceasefire may or may not mean the war is over, Vanessa Kimball is not a cult but she maybe plays one on TV, Agent Carolina learns to stop worrying and love the society of control, and General Doyle is probably paying for Wash's therapy, but at least the cat doesn't die.

Very skillfully written: subtle, powerful, and personal. I love the quiet realism.

    Summary

Meta-comedy/drama set immediately post-4x18, The Monster at the End of This Book. Dean can't stop wondering why people would write gay porn about him and Sam. Research takes him to interesting places; re-reading novels for subtext, visiting message boards, and a really freaky place called LiveJournal. What he discovers is a sick fascination with fanfiction, more about gay sex than he ever wanted to know, and an even deeper obsession with understanding why people write this stuff. Meanwhile, they're hunting a mysterious monster that takes the form of a person's truest love to kill them slowly, the lines between fanfiction and reality are starting to break down, and they still have to stop Lilith and save the world.

Exploring all the links and content contained in this fic was just as engrossing as the actual story.

What happened to Wash between the episodes. Very well written with great character voices, and true empathy.

    Summary

The thing about finding love in a war zone, Tucker thinks, is that you never know when it’s coming.
The thing about finding love in a war zone, Wash thinks, is that you never know where it’s going.

The thing about love and sex in a warzone is that there are a million things that can go wrong, but—

As it turns out, there are also a million things that can go right.

When the Federalist and New Republic armies unite on Chorus in the face of a common enemy, they must first learn how to trust each other. Two former Freelancers, an A.I. fragment, and several Red and Blue soldiers have a thing or two to learn as well, about trust, and loyalty, and love. In war, you make homes out of people despite knowing that they can be ripped away in the blink of an eye and-

The thing is, you protect your own with everything you've got.

    Bookmarker's Notes

This was recced to me as a well-written (mostly) character piece that avoids both sugar and angst overlaods.

    The reccer was right.
