Summary
Gerard, the child of a forbidden love between vampire and werewolf, ascends the throne of werewolf clan Wajdra at the tender age of eleven. The political situation between the dwindling numbers of the werewolves and their ancient enemies, the vampires, is precarious at best, and when his vampire mother and brother retreat to Transylvania, the only one Gerard can truly trust is Frank, the little werewolf cub who swore himself Gerard's liegeman the very day that they met. Gerard and Frank are raised side-by-side in the castle in a political tinderbox, but as Gerard's coming-of-age approaches, a war between vampires and werewolves looms ever nearer, while humans encroaching on their territory threaten both with extinction.

At sunset on the third day since the second water purifier had stopped, the city of Agrabah limped along in a state of controlled chaos.
The royal fountains and pools were empty; the use of water for bathing and watering of plants was strictly limited, which put the nobles out of temper, greatly gratified the smallest children at bedtime, and added a whole new level of pungency to the bazaar. The bakers in the streets sold a drastically reduced selection at astronomical prices; at the back gates of the palace, a line of hungry beggars stretched and snaked out into the city, and the Queen's cooks fed them on baked vegetable balls and salads, anything but bread; and kebab stalls had sprung into being like goosebumps after a cold wind, hawking roasted lamb so fast that the shepherds were fast becoming the happiest demographic in the city, and the sheep the most worried.

Written for this prompt on the Avengers kinkmeme (and first posted there): "The Avengers are trapped somewhere. A forest, a cave, whatever. Tony, who is hurt, traumatized, his arc reactor running low, MacGyvers some awesome shit and saves the day. The Avengers can only watch in awe."
The Avengers are stuck in a cave, and Tony, despite being essentially incapacitated by the loss of his suit, has a working plan to deal with this shit. So what if his team thinks he's only useful in the suit? And so what that they're not in life-threatening danger, the kind that Loki strews around himself like confetti? Tony is going to get them out of there by hook or by crook, because goddammit he hates caves, and no one else is coming up with a better plan. They're not in danger now, but time is running out. And if Tony has to damage himself to pull off his plan, well, them's the breaks.
Incidentally, Steve doesn't like it when Tony's damaged.
(Or: Stand back! Tony Stark's about to try science. Dangerous, self-sacrificing science.)
