    Summary

The son of the man who lost the Eagle of the Ninth would never be allowed a first command of his very own fort, would he?

Marcus is posted not to Isca Dumnoniorum, but to a wretched and run-down garrison north of the Wall. There he finds that he is the new centurion of a group of scouts and spies, all of them British. He has few supplies and no experience. His men distrust him. His superiors despise him. His second-in-command is an incompetent drunkard. And the local tribes are determined to kill all of them.

But the worst thing of all is one of Marcus' soldiers. He is an enigmatic, dangerous, and insubordinate man by the name of Esca, who makes Marcus yearn for terrifying things he has never before wanted and can never, ever let himself have...

    Summary

Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers met in 1924 in a back alley brawl. Bucky was seven and Steve was six.
Buck waited until Steve had already lost a tooth before he beat the bullies off of him and down the street.
After a firm handshake, they were instantly inseparable.

Leaves turn, seasons change, even in Brooklyn. Bucky and Steve discovered girls.
Bucky had all of the luck, Steve barely had any, but it was okay. They still had each other.

In 1936, Steve's mom died, and Bucky offered him the other half of the tiny apartment he'd been looking into renting so he could move out of his parents' place.
Steve was going to art school, and Bucky was working all the time. Bucky still had girls, and Steve still had Bucky.

    Steve kissed a girl.
    Bucky kissed Steve.
    Everything was different after that.

    Summary

Bucky moves onto Pastor Rogers’ farm on a Sunday.

“Can’t offer you much right now,” Rogers had said with a sad twist to his mouth, “but there’s an old cabin needs fixing up, you’re welcome to camp out there and do whatever you want with it.” He laughed. “Maybe you can even teach my boy to use a hammer.”

The pastor's seventeen year old son Steve is the last thing Bucky expects. He's got a smart mouth, a nose for trouble, and a habit of seducing members of the football team. Bucky didn't think he was looking for anything, but Steve 's got his own ideas about what Bucky needs.
