From the UK, I discovered Kirk/Spock fandom in the late 80s having been a long-time fan of the original series of Star Trek. I wrote a few K/S stories in the early '90s which were published in the zine T'hy'la. Attending cons in both the UK and US I met many wonderful people, some of whom have become long term friends. A friend encouraged me to read and then write a few stories in The Professionals fandom, based on the 1970s UK cop series.
I dropped out of fandom in the late '90s, but rediscovered it in 2008 when I came across the K/S archive; the many wonderful stories there inspired me to write again. The release of Star Trek XI provided even more inspiration, and I've had tremendous fun exploring these new facets in the stories I've written in the STR 'verse!
In 2011, a 'swords and sandals' film was released called The Eagle set in the Romano British era of the mid second century, based on Rosemary Sutcliff's book The Eagle of the Ninth. The film was easily the most unintentionally slashy I had ever seen and has inspired a number of stories.
I am seriously considering reworking and publishing some of my stories. When I do, I will be removing them from all public archives.
