Utterly amazing fanfic of a 1905 short story by a non-white feminist author which you should also read if you haven't: Sultana's Dream.

Summary
A cycle of five connected ficlets based on the five Asian elements: wood, fire, metal, water, and earth.
A note on the warning: Rikku's official age is given as fifteen. I was very surprised to hear she was that young, and didn't even know it when I wrote these. I think she is very mature for that age, to say the least. Still, I gave an "underage" warning to be on the safe side.
Also, Kimahri is a big blue cat person and Rikku isn't.

Bookmarker's Notes
I AM STALKING THIS FIC.
IT WILL NEVER ESCAPE MY UNDYING FANGIRL LOVE.Er, uh, yeah.
I have read a lot of fics over the years, and I've had a few favorites. This one blows them all the way in much the way that the original Star Wars movie blew away all SF films that came before it, possibly even including 2001.
