Summary
The shadows were swirling in the crystal again, and as they cleared Meg began to recognize her mother's lab at home. Mrs. Murry was sitting perched on her high stool, writing away at a sheet of paper on a clipboard on her lap.
She's writing Father, Meg thought. The way she always does. Every night.
Mrs. Murry looked up from her letter, almost as though she were looking toward the children, and then her head drooped and she put it down on the paper, and sat there, huddled up, letting herself relax into an unhappiness that she never allowed her children to see.

Summary
Seifer ripped it open, smirking at the heavy paper. He was invited, apparently, to a New Year's Welcome Party at Balamb Garden. Black tie recommended, in fact. He scowled at it - the first communication he'd had from Garden in over a year, and it was an invitation to a damn party? What in Hyne's name was Squall on about?

Summary
He’d thought it’d be really awkward when he and Wallace split up, because their apartment was so small, and they only had the one bed, and he certainly didn’t expect Wallace to turn celibate because he was living with his ex-boyfriend. Somehow it wasn’t, though.

Summary
When she was a girl, she longed for the wider world in a way that her sisters could not understand. "Why?" they asked when she climbed to the tops of the highest trees to catch the sky, the stars, the sunset; and, "Why?" when she roamed to the edges of the Wood to catch glimpses of strangers from faraway places and hear their tales. She did not have a why, just a knowledge: the Wood was not enough.

There had been so many people, so many hugs and handshakes and flowers, but there was no use in hoping Carmela hadn't noticed. Her sharp little eyes didn't miss much, and she was quick to take offense, especially from Mag.

Summary
He'd wanted Shilo from the first time he'd laid eyes on her, at the Opera - so wide-eyed and innocent, so willing to believe the lies of both his father and hers. But there was no time, that night, and when she'd walked out of the Genetic Opera still covered in Nathan's blood, he wasn't sure he'd ever see her again.
