It’ll be a while before they can get someone to translate this, and meanwhile that tall know-it-all bastard has gone off to do god-knows-what without bothering to even tell them what the note says.
John edges forward in the middle of the uproar, and surreptitiously glances at the note.

The first time that Darcy ever met him he was wearing sunglasses because he had a hangover, and sitting hunched blearily over half a cup of coffee in the Avenger’s kitchen.

When Pepper didn't get the P.A. job at Stark Industries, she applied for an administrative position at Advanced Idea Mechanics instead.
It didn't take her long to work her way to the top of the ladder through a combination of ruthless competence, people skills, and a good working knowledge of organisational psychology. Unfortunately, after Loki is dealt with, the Avengers decide to take care of A.I.M. next, which interferes with Pepper's well-laid plans.
To make it worse, Tony Stark - aka Iron Man, aka the most infuriating yet charming man Pepper has ever met - presents a problem all of his own. Not that Pepper's going to let him know that, of course.

The thing was, there were a lot of things Tony didn’t stop to think about, until they hit him upside the head. It wasn’t a lack of consideration for others, exactly; it definitely wasn’t stupidity. It was just that understanding people had kind of always been Tony’s biggest weakness (he was more of an ideas man than a people person), and sometimes, even though he tried, he didn’t always think about things from other people’s perspective as much as he should have.
It had never occurred to him that JARVIS was one of those people.
