I wrote this story back in 1996 or 1997, way back even before I started using the nic Tanya Reed. The 24 year old me wrote differently and viewed the world differently than the 39 year old me does. Still, I hope that you'll enjoy this story, even with its flaws and romantic optimism. The inspiration for this was a life insurance commercial that showed a family as it aged through the years.
After a fight, Remington storms off and Laura falls to sleep and dreams of the future.

Summary
This was the first Due South story I ever finished, way back in 1999. My writing style has changed a lot since then, and so have I, but I wanted to post this anyway. The story is named after the Fred Rose song that gave me the idea. The beginning of the story takes place between Seeing is Believing and Perfect Strangers. It's a sweet (I'll be honest here, sometimes too sweet) and optimistic story about love lasting throughout time. It's unapologetically Fraser/Thatcher, so if that's not your thing, you probably should stay away.

I wrote this story about six months before the episode about Raglan aired. At the time, a lot of the people who read my story admitted that they didn't even remember who Raglan was, and why would they, he was just a name tossed out in the scene where Kate told Rick why she wore her mother's ring. Her story had been chewing at my brain, though, and the name stuck with me. Then, one day, I sat down to write and this story came flowing out of my pen. When they aired the Raglan story around six months later, I was disappointed by the things I got wrong, but I was also really surprised at how much I got right. This story is AU now, but it shows how I viewed Kate's mother's death during the summer between seasons two and three.
