Summary
Written in response to a prompt in my prompt box by Kiharukitty on Livejournal.
Further note: a certain amount of suspension of disbelief is needed for this fic because we all know that Sherlock would never drink on a case, let alone get soused, but it was part of the prompt and I couldn't really think of a totally IC way of doing it. But if you're looking for some 'entertainment' for the evening, well, hopefully you can get past the drinking and enjoy the fic, cause that's what it's there for :)

Summary
The night when he wakes up thrashing with the Prince of Erebor kneeling by his bedside in a nightshirt comes as an unpleasant surprise.
“I… I…” Bilbo tries to apologize, but his throat closes on the words.
“You were whimpering in your sleep.” Thorin says. “And begging. Is there aught that I should know?”
Bilbo sags back into the mattress and shakes his head. He has little to complain about. He was protected at every juncture of his journey. No goblin ever touched him or bit into him. The things he sees in the darkness are phantasms and not memory. “No. Forgive me. I won’t wake you again.”
Thorin waves off his apology like it’s an insect …and not one that would have survived the encounter either. “You will tell me what it is that you need.” He says it like a general, like a man used to giving orders, and surprisingly Bilbo responds to it.
“I need…” He takes a ragged breath. “I need to not think for a while.”
“Perhaps I can help with that.” Thorin says.
Bilbo is taken as a slave by goblins and liberated by the dwarves of Erebor. This is the story of what comes after that.

Summary
In an alternate reality, Erebor was never taken by Smaug, and the War of Dwarves and Orcs never happened. The Orcs invaded the Shire, slaughtering hundreds and taking countless more as slaves. Bilbo is slave to Azog, the Dwarf King's mortal enemy... until the Dwarf King rescues him.

Summary
Through centuries of plenty Dale and Erebor have traded food for gold, but after a drought and crop failure sour their relationships, the dwarves look elsewhere for the solution. They find the Shire, rich in food, but reluctant to trade with strangers. What better solution than an arranged marriage? Hobbits get a connection to the dwarves, the dwarves solve their trade dispute.
Bilbo Baggins just happens to be the only hobbit willing to do it.
