Bilbo was haunting Thorin… politely. Most of the time. If he happened to see things he shouldn't, that wasn't really his fault, was it? It wasn't like he could just tell Thorin he's there—haunting didn't work that way. But he tried to be helpful; he was more of a considerate, if inconspicuous flatmate than anything else. He made coffee in the mornings, didn't he? And put up those stupid, useless free floating shelves Thorin liked better than Bilbo's antique bookcases. Once he even finished Thorin's taxes, because God was the man useless at it.

But that was a tangent. The thing of the matter was, Bilbo was haunting Thorin, politely for the most part. Even though, technically speaking, Bilbo was not dead.

Tony's been waiting for his soulmate for over thirty years; Loki's been waiting for over a millenium.

That doesn't mean either of them knows what to actually do with a soulmate, once they've met.

(Or: What Thor the movie would have looked like if it was a soulmates AU with Tony Stark in it.)

    Summary

“Look, I know I’m not exactly the church on Sunday type,” Tony breathed. “And maybe if I ever got in a confessional, it’d take the better part of a day to get through the whole list.” He bent at the waist, all too conscious of the fact that the remaining armor was weighing him down. One hand found a rock- a pretty half-assed weapon, sure, but better than nothing if it came to that. And of course it was going to come to that. That was how his life worked. “But if any god’s out there listening right now, it would be one hell of a chance to make me a believer.”

A response came with startling immediacy, a whisper so near to his ear that he could feel the warm breath of the speaker. “Now, tell me. Is that an official prayer?” The voice was low and soft like dark silk, and if anything could have made this moment worse, it was recognizing who that voice belonged to- and then having his brain catch up and recognize who that voice belonged to. He and the universe, Tony Stark told himself, would have to have a little heart-to-heart about expectations.

    Summary

Thorin Durinson, head of Durinson & Company, an architectural firm specializing in environmentally responsible design and restoration, focuses all his creative abilities on his work and his affection on his family and old friends. And then one grey day, a woman in a red coat literally walks into his life, and just like that, everything changes.

Inspired by a prompt from lostunderthemountain on Oct. 11th, based on this gorgeous photoset.

ME: Mmm, rolled up sleeves, and who are you looking at, dearie, in that last frame?

lostunderthemountain: OH! Modern AU in New York: Thorin Durinson is the is the Head of a global company that is continually under threat from Smaug’s (cause like they differ on many opinions or something….).

Anyway, one morning he’s getting out of a taxi outside of the company’s building when he catches sight of one Miss Bella Baggins (not that he knows her name) and instantly his world freezes…until Fili shoves him to try to get him to move…
