    Bookmarker's Notes

An inventive little thought on the series' idea of magic, and some good reflection on every writer's apparent favourite topic for the 2013 series: post-Yamatai.

This will sound a little ridiculous, no matter how Sasuke phrases it. I see dead people is embarrassingly tacky, and I'm half-spirit seems like something Sakura might say when she's stoned sky high. So he settles for a shrug.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I don't bookmark unfinished works too often. (This sounds odd now I think about it, but bookmarks on AO3 are just another way of saying "favourites", because Mark for Later and subscriptions are what one actually uses like a physical bookmark. At any rate, once I'm done rambling to myself ...)

This deserves it. A thorough exploration of Sasuke and many of his issues, while doing very solid work on developing his mentors into the bargain. Teachers and students, superiors and subordinates, and friends - these relationships are what the story centres around, these are what staked its title on, and In Good Company more than lives up to its chosen name.

    Summary

The world is trapped in an illusion which removes anger, hate, and death. It's paradise, giving everyone everything they've ever wanted and reviving anyone they've ever lost. Nearly two years into the illusion, Sasuke snaps back to his senses and must decide whether to keep the world in false bliss, or return it to war-torn reality.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Best summed up by the lines
"There’s no such thing as death here, apparently.

It’s the scariest fucking thing he’s ever heard."

    Strong ideas and strong execution.

    Summary

“Why’d you stay here? Why’d Merl — Arthur not have you on their arses the second you were discharged from the A&E?”

“He wanted to,” she tells him gravely, trying to push the cup of orange juice the nurse had left into his hand.

    “And you…?”

Roxy shrugs, and when he sticks her with that I’m not buying your bullshit gaze, she rolls her eyes. “And I was busy calling the doctors all sorts of names. They wouldn’t let me in to visit.”

    They leave it at that.

Easily one of the better post-film 'fics. Works through the future of its characters intelligently, and handles its relationship deftly rather than being overeager about it.

    Summary

"It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it."

What does the Exile want? Why does she extend her hands in charity one moment and deal out death the next? Her mind is a cipher, her actions inscrutable. This is the first volume in the story of those who traveled with her on the long and winding road to Malachor, the beginning and the end.
