Summary
Interbellum boarding school AU, inspired by the Lowood section of "Jane Eyre".
England, 1925. In a country where the Great War is a barely-fading nightmare, 12-year-old Charles Xavier finds himself at the Witworm School For Boys. Too old for his age and too young for the world, Charles, lonely and abused, struggles to understand the things he knows that he should not know, as well as fit into a school that languishes under the pallor of war. Despite the crush of people around him, Charles feels displaced; but he cannot shake the feeling that he is meant for more than simply living long enough to forget.
He doesn’t expect there to be anything he won’t /want/ to forget. After all, from his life so far, there is so little he wouldn’t be better off without.

Summary
Alfonso is dead, and Lucrezia lies beside him, empty and willing herself into nothingness. Only Cesare is there, bathing the blood from her skin, and she is too far gone and lost to resist one last sin, even when she knows it must be the last, even when she knows that God is no longer in the room with them, and all there is is nothingness.
