Sherlock Holmes won't put John Watson in harm's way, no matter how much they love each other. In fact, he'll do anything to keep him safe--including dying and coming back to life again. But Watson doesn't want safety: he wants Holmes.
“So,” he said slowly. “What is it you expect, then? Shall we sit across the breakfast table and gaze longingly at each other over the butter dish, silently breaking into pieces? Shall we retire to our separate bedrooms each night, and listen to each other breathing through the wall?”
“Yes,” I answered, for when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

Summary
This is inspired by/in response to a prompt on the sherlockbbc_fic lj comm in which Mycroft, ever concerned for his baby brother’s “space cadet-ness”, begins giving John gifts in appreciation for his caring for Sherlock and basically keeping him alive. The prompt was based on an IM conversation between the prompter and a friend and included the phrase “fucking tiny saint” so I had to work that phrase in here since it’s just so damned cute...

"Harry Watson tells her brother about a site called Tumblr, and a tag called Johnlock. John decides to look at it and finds a rather interesting fanfiction, which is /very/ graphic but also has strange, personal details in it (for example: John likes to be bitten during sex, in the fic John is bitten during sex) that alarms John. He shows it to Sherlock, a bit embarrassed of course, and asks him if he knows who wrote this, and it turns out that Sherlock has written that himself. In retrospect, John supposed that it hadn't been the wisest move to cut out early from his date on the 13th of February. To be fair, it hadn't been one of Sherlock's fake emergencies. No, instead it had been a rapid stream of unanswered phone calls from Mrs. Hudson, culminating in an almost indecipherably frantic voicemail, the only distinguishable words of which were "Sherlock," "fire," and (puzzlingly) "bring home some bicarbonate of soda."
