Wolves are pack animals. They weren't made for isolation, for loneliness and cold nights without someone else at your back.
But Eliot could handle it.

Magic has rules. Old things that should have died a long time ago but keep on ticking regardless of logic or exhaustion have rules. There is a rhythm to these things, and a price to pay for everything, even affection.
No one seems to understand the price until it's too late. Clint tried to tell Bucky that. He tries to tell everyone, but no one ever seems to listen. Not Nat, not Kate, and definitely not Bucky.

That was the day Hardison and Parker realized, when Eliot was threatening to punch people for them what he was really saying was "I love you."
Sam had always been heard that the third of something was always the most intense, positive or negative. So he knew the third time that he fell in love was going to be earth shattering either way. Naturally he tried to avoid it, and naturally, he will fail.
Because Sam is all heart, and sadly he can't become a little besotted. Even worse, he's always known when it was going to happen, but it wasn't that useful because he never manages to avoid it still. What kind of sense does that make? None!

Darcy gave a happy hum as she sipped at her drink, “I saw your cats have both returned to the tower at the same time, am I going to finally see them brawl for your affections?”
Oh if only she knew, but Darcy didn’t know, though how Jane had managed to keep it that way was beyond her. Darcy had been the person to literally shake Jane, point to both Loki and Bucky, calling her an oblivious idiot for not noticing the heart eyes. Even if it did come from two of the more emotionally constipated in the tower.

“There’s a Hogsmeade weekend coming up,” Alec suggests quietly. “If you can cope with study dates and Quidditch practice until then, we could have our first real date in Hogsmeade.”
Magnus’ answering smile is so bright and so beautiful that Alec actually feels a little dazed, like someone whacked him over the head with a cauldron whilst he wasn't looking, or aimed a bludger at his face.
“Provided we don’t kiss in the middle of the village in front of everyone we know,” Alec adds.
Magnus fakes a sigh. “Well, that’s my plans scuppered."

The ad is messily stapled against the public announcement board in the quad.
It looks like someone wrote it with their non-dominant hand in the first pen they found. Its sloppy red ink reads in giant letters: “FOUR BEDROOMS. ONE BATH. PASSABLE KITCHEN. WILLING TO DELAY PAYMENT ON RENT. PLEASE DON’T TRY TO LIVE WITH US IF YOU’RE WEIRD, WE ALREADY HAVE SIMON.”
(or, Alec lives with three strangers and starts to like them more than his actual family)
Luke laughs. “Simon Lewis has your back. How’s that feel?”
Jace gives him a sour look, trying not to grin at the little bubble of elation growing in his chest at the thought. “Honestly? Terrifying.”
After touching the Soul Sword, Jace is given an impossible mission by Aldertree and promptly shuts himself away in his room, unwilling to face any of the other Shadowhunters. Everyone is too busy trying to pick up the pieces and work out how to mend relations with the Downworld to break him out of his misery.
Everyone except Simon, who, as it turns out, has more than a few problems of his own to contend with.
Instead Simon finally looks at him, eyes blazing with anger and glistening with tears that are threatening to spill over. It’s a breathtaking sight, if not heart wrenching because this is not what he wanted. Answers, yes. But he forgets that Simon wears his heart on his sleeve. He has no shame in showing emotions, to him his tears are signs of strength not weakness. Jace finds himself envious at times. But now, with Simon falling apart in front of him, he thinks he’s taken it too far.
Simon groans and pushes himself up from resting on his folded arms, digging his fingers into his eyes. “I can’t do this,” he says. “I’m going to drop out of college and bulk up and become a stripper.”
Jace smirks. “Sure, Simon,” he replies.
“I’m serious,” Simon tells him between his spread fingers. “People will shove singles in my gold booty shorts and I’ll be the richest of all of us.”
(Or: a five plus one about Simon's glasses, but not really.)
