When Anne overhears the Barnum children crying while their father is away, she witnesses a touching conversation, and is left with a lot to think about.

“I think I have some news,” says Anne.
Phillip looks up from his desk, brows raising at the sight of his wife. Anne says “news” the way anyone else might say “severed toe” or “highly contagious disease”. He sits up straight.
“What is it? Are you alright?”
“Fine, I’m —“ Anne says hastily, then cuts herself off. There’s a flicker of panic in her eyes. “I’m great.”
It’s Family Dinner Night with the Barnum family, plus Phillip and Anne. Something interesting is bound to happen. When does anything ever go according to plan for the Barnums, anyway?
