  1. Summary

This series is made up of squares I pieced for All Things Proceed from Passion and it's offshoot series that ended up not fitting into the quilt. There were some I liked too much to cut up or through away. As I come across them while getting each chapter of those series ready to publish, I am putting them more or less in order, but many of them are mutually exclusive and any of them can (or at least might as well) stand alone.

Canon compliance? BtVS 1-7 is the 'cannon', All things Proceed from Passion is the rocket launcher, Blood Screaming is the M-16, It's All Terribly Simple is the Colt 45, and this is the little gun I keep in my purse.

  4. Summary

Buffy's world may be out of step, off kilter, the opposite of normal... but it keeps turning, for now, which amounts to always. Because a life lived in the valley of the shadow of death is bound to look a little turned around in the blinding glare of the California sun. Luckily, she thinks she may have found the perfect person to live her crazy, mixed up life with. Rupert Giles is older, wiser and soooo much closer to her own age than her last 'boyfriend'. And he hails from a place and a people with a radically different take on fowl weather and fair.

Very sweet. Killer characterization. Totally worth the hassle of repeatedly finding you place in a 20,000 word fic with no chapter breaks.

Shockingly good B/G have to do it to save the world fic. Starting from the given premise, the action and characterization are restrained, mature and fitting.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Amazing characterization! Characters are who they are... no mater how much they really have changed.
Amazing Control of Syle! Shocking and beautiful commitment to the third person limited perspective, including masterful use of methods for actually getting the whole story out without breaking perspective or tipping off the 'protagonist' of everything that is being foreshadowed for the reader. Moral perspective is complex and sometimes murky without being 'all relative' or treating evil as merely an alternate good, even though the story is from the perspective of ... well you'll see. Emotional complexity separate from but not unrelated to moral complexity. The fact that we know these characters AND KNOW HOW WELL THEY KNOW EACH OTHER is an enormous help here, so good use of the actual strengths of fanfic relative to other genres.
Striking Plotting and Pacing! Not the conventional build. But it really really works.
Faults? There is a line or two of clompy exposition, an occasional place where I felt like I would have made a different artistic choice and a few typos, though not nearly as many as I have in my own unbetaed works. Seriously. That's it. This piece is solid!
