Without a doubt the best Storybrooke Belle-and-Rumpelstiltskin AU fic I've yet read. Absolutely brilliant - and only the start of a series! I can't wait to find out how these two will handle Regina and what she's done to them.

One thing I really enjoy, in a piece of fan fiction, is bittersweet. Another is character study, whether it's epic or highly focused on a single moment in time. This story is the latter kind, a vignette and a 'what-if?', in which the isolated and heartsore Belle of Once Upon a Time's early second season finds herself confronted with an unplanned pregnancy. It's too easy to turn a character into a martyr or a cliché (or both!), in this situation, but this is no idealised Belle. She doubts, she's afraid, she's confused by the morality of the Storybrooke world. She reaches out when she needs support. Once again, she decides her fate - for herself, and for her own reasons, and Rufeepeach uses that to highlight what makes the character both strong and beautiful in my eyes. This is a tiny story, only just over 1000 words, but it's beautiful.
