    Summary

“I have not played nursemaid since Kili was young and in bed with pneumonia,” Thorin said.
“You’re not my nursemaid,” Bella murmured, closing her eyes once more and tugging the blankets a little higher up. “I don’t know why you’re here at all.”

Or: Bella Baggins falls ill in Lake-town, and Thorin tends to her, although she's not sure why at first.

    Summary

    Bilbo Baggins was nobody special.

He paid his bills on time, brushed his teeth twice a day, and ran a small Teahouse down the lane called Bella’s Brewhouse, fondly named in honour of his passed mother. Bilbo was 35, had a Degree in English Literature, and lived alone.

Nothing exciting or extraordinary happened to him.
That was, until his oldest friend Gandalf Greyhame arrived on his doorstep late at night, after a favor.

The Company of Thorin Oakenshield was made up of brothers.

    Entirely too many brothers.

    Thorin should have known better.

This is definitely going to bite him in the butt.

    Summary

"What is this?" the captain growled, his stance wide and threatening on the rocking deck. Bilbo crowded as close as possible to Gandalf, his legs threatening to buckle and pitch him over the side. He already hated the two fleshy appendages - why, oh why, had he agreed to leave the water? He missed his tail.

"This, Captain Oakenshield," Gandalf replied, nudging Bilbo forward, "is your navigator."

"Ha! Navigator? He looks more like a merchant to me."
