Summary
Inspired by a certain charming picture book by Judith Viorst. Re-reading said book, which I so loved as a child, encouraged me to re-write the first three chapters of the Twilight story using Judith's language and writing style. Written for the TwiSpiteFic community on LJ.
I think I'll move to South America. Bella wakes up with her hair in tangles... and her day just gets worse from there.

Breaking Dawn: 22. Promised - "Renesmee whimpered eagerly and stretched, her little hands grasping into fists again and again." Part three in the Mending Sunrise series (prior volumes being Damned and its prequel Blessed). This immediately follows up on the events of Damned, and answers some of the questions and thoughts brought up by readers, in response to the previous installments. I wasn't inclined to crack his skull open. Yet. As tensions escalate between the Cullens and the wolf pack, a series of surprising revelations take place... and at least one of them is particularly unpleasant to a certain new mom.

Breaking Dawn: 9. Sure As Hell Didn't See That One Coming - "The blond bloodsucker – the showy one, Rosalie – bent over her, cutting into my view, hovering in a strange, protective way." In this prequel of my AU-fic Damned, I've tried to make sense of both Bella's decision to have Nessie and Rosalie's protection of the pregnant Bella, all without the character origami that Meyer employs. Elements of the conception, pregnancy and birth have also been changed. Written for the TwiSpiteFic community on LJ.
A cold shock of terror shot down my spine. What, exactly, was inside of me now? A wedding followed up with impending parenthood is all perfectly normal for most people... but not when your new husband is a vampire.

Breaking Dawn: 21. First Hunt - "The wind shifted, blowing the smell of wet earth and coming rain across my face, further freeing me from the other scent's fiery grip – a scent so delicious it could only be human." Bella's new vampire life has her as, essentially, the best vampire that ever vampired, without any issues whatsoever. But personally, I think struggle is what makes a character interesting. So, here's a very different take on Bella's first experiences as a newborn bloodsucker. Written for the TwiSpiteFic community on LJ.
Now, my dinner had legs and could try to run from me. Bella, newly awakened into the life of a vampire, faces the prospect of her first hunt.

In the realm between worlds, repentant vampire Nicholas de Brabant meets the Almighty; they talk about (Un)Life and the Big Plan, go for a stroll and eat curly fries with loads of ketchup. I've buried a few Dogma and Supernatural references in the text. Also, there's some organized-religion snark.

Eclipse: 2. Evasion - "Edward sat very still, a faint bright spot in the darkness, only his hands moving as he turned a mysterious black object around and around." The scene where Edward dismantles the engine to Bella's truck has always bothered me deeply, in all its incarnations, and I wanted to do a fic for the longest time where Bella really tells him off for it. The abusive elements of Bella and Edward's relationship are disgustingly romanticized throughout the series. "I didn't know which Edward was the real one, and kept hoping the nice, romantic Edward I loved so much would be here to stay this time. But he never did, always making room for his other, nastier self when things didn't go according to what Edward Anthony Masen Cullen hath decreed." Quiet and shy Bella can't believe her luck when she's wooed and won by the popular Edward Cullen. He seems quite the catch but, as his moods become more frighteningly erratic, she begins to wonder if this is the only love she deserves.

Eclipse: 19. Selfish - "I noticed him staring at my hand. I looked down, and saw that I was still wearing the gift that Jacob had given me at the party." Canon!Edward's reaction to Bella's wearing of the wolf charm her quasi-rapist gave her is merely to pout because he doesn't get equal representation on her body (both in the book and film). This fic's Edward isn't so blasé about Bella shrugging off having been assaulted by Jacob... or that she has been pacified by Jacob's hokey little gift. Written for the TwiSpiteFic community on LJ.

Hush, Hush: Chapter 14 - “Because I thought I was in love. And when you think you're in love, you're willing to stick it out and make it work until it is love.” Inspired by zelda_queen's wonderful recap of Hush, Hush on LJ... particularly the wasted moment where main character Nora Gray could've told her mother about Patch's terrifying behavior, and the creepy abuse undertones of the relationship between Nora's mother and (recently deceased) father.
"I was young. Insecure. Lonely. So I fell for the attention he gave me, how he made me feel like the only girl in the world. I thought... given time, I'd love him as much as he seemed to love me."

Twilight: 13. Confessions - "Edward in the sunlight was shocking." Shockingly inconsistent with the portrayal of vampires in every single thing ever, that is. But, it turns out that they'd be pretty badass if they referred to themselves as the creatures they actually resemble. Also, the title is taken from the first act of Shakespeare's MacBeth.
''If she has mistaken us for vampires, then she has no idea what we really are.'' Jumping to conclusions can sometimes work in your favour.

She hadn't been afraid, but excited. She was young, after all, and new and different things intrigued her. That, and she'd been so utterly cossetted, repressed and suffocated by her mother that such a change of pace was more than welcome.

Original prompt, contributed by havocthecat, was: "Natalie Lambert wakes up a vampire, none of the few vampires she knows brought her across, and has to solve the mystery of how it happened."
Her mouth felt strange, dry and sharp like broken glass. She ran her tongue along her teeth, and was surprised -- and yet, paradoxically, unsurprised -- to discover fangs where her normal, human canines used to be.

This is my SG1-related entry into oxoniensis' Porn Battle 11, so it obviously involves sexual situations. It's a lovely little pre-Season 1 ditty I'm rather proud of; I had requested this particular pairing for PB10, but didn't get it, so I decided to write it myself for PB11. I've since tweaked the grammar slightly and removed repetitive wording. Prompt was "Teal'c/Any, [any]".
She was beautiful, and he had missed her.
