Summary
Javert has always thought that his world is clear-cut and simple, the lines carved into stone instead of drawn in sand. On the good side there is law and morality; The other side is chaos, lawlessness and sin. It shouldn't have been too hard not to fall, but when his world is shattered not once, but twice during the night at the barricades, he is quick to find out that even the most simplest of things can bring complicated tides that can erode even the hardest stone into sand.
