Summary
Stiles had shifted around awkwardly by the dead animals, holding a sixty gallon trash bag, because his mom had loved cats, okay, and he wasn’t just going to leave those there to, like, rot, they were kitten sized for fuck’s sake. He’d been glad that he couldn’t smell whatever it was that was stressing his more lupine acquaintances out. And then Derek had growled, “Elves,” all fangs and red eyes.

Summary
Honestly, someone putting a bullet in his head would probably be preferable to this. He pressed his back into the corner of the room and pulled his knees up toward himself. He leaned forward to rest his head against them and immediately regretted it as the shift in equilibrium did violent things to his stomach. The bitter, acrid taste in his mouth had little to do with the bile rising in his throat and everything to do with the purple flower he'd eaten just a few minutes prior. Like an idiot.

Summary
Being a sheriff's kid, Stiles had seen and heard a lot about the crazy things drugs did to people. His classmates got Dymo the Drug Buster Dog and nifty D.A.R.E. keychains. He got graphic pictures of meth addicts' teeth and primary testimonies from former heroin users and a new set of nightmares to go along with them. During one of his many late night insomnia-induced Wikipedia binges, he cataloged and crossed referenced effects of cocaine, Ecstasy, and a number of other commonly abused substances. All very interesting, all very scary. And he certainly knows what it's like to be under the influence of wolfsbane (the horrible, horrible influence). The point is, Stiles feels he has a good grasp on the concept of “tripping balls,” given to him by both extensive research and limited experience.
And right now he is definitely tripping balls.

Summary
It’s much harder than he expected, though, to stand beside Stiles on the lawn as his house burns down. Hard to keep his hand on that too-thin shoulder, birdlike under Peter’s fingers. It’s strange trying to reconcile the fragility of a human boy with the predator he is underneath, but Stiles has always shown his true colors under adversity.
He doesn’t cry. He just asks, “Was it them?” Because he’s clever enough to understand what having enemies means but innocent enough not to recognize when one offers comfort.
Peter does what’s easy, and lies, “Yes.” Then he does what’s hard, and stays.
