    Summary

Miss Gibson said, “In the spirit of truthful admission, Miss Bennet, I intend to spend some time devising the right question for you. If I may see you again?”

Why did that sound strange? But she always sounded strange to people herself. And it was a familiar kind of strangeness, as if it were something she had heard before, only not like this.

Mary, constrained by the principles of truth, could only admit that she would enjoy that very much.

This is delightful, and really, I think I have something in my eye. I was hooked at In a family with so many sisters, Mary thought it almost not worthwhile to change, since no one ever noticed it and was always seeing you as you used to be and not as you were because oh, how true - but then Mary does change, and grow, and so does everyone around her, and it's perfectly lovely and beautifully written and I think I am going to believe that this is exactly what happened, and how.

Oh, ALL THE HEARTS for this! What a lovely continuation of the story. You've captured the feel of it, the edge of wonder, the forging ahead despite heartbreak and disappointment - it's just beautiful!

The Old One, The Sleeping Beast, Seeker of Blood and Devourer of Souls, Haunting Abomination of the Darkened Woods, woke to find his sacred grounds were no longer there.

The new ways are more than a bit confusing, but there's no reason an ancient god can't adapt with the times.

Wow, what a great narrative voice! An interesting take on the song, and just as sad.

I really loved this! The imaginings of the various somewhat surreal hazards of the library are perfectly in tune with the original short story. And the ending is wonderful.
