Tommy, thought Eli furiously, was like something from the thriller/horror section. Fast-paced, and engrossing but ultimately without depth. Something to occupy yourself with whilst commuting, but not thought provoking or you could really get your teeth into.

Captain America is back from the dead, and all should be well. Too bad the world didn't stop and wait for Steve's return and no one ever gave him a chance to get used to the latest changes in the team dynamics. And it would really help if things between him and Tony weren't quite as raw - and if both of them weren't so spectacularly bad at talking to each other.
Also, there's a threat for the existance of mankind. But no one but Tony actually cares about that.

Andrew is a beleaguered English grad student, hands already full with TAing, a job in a bookshop, and a collection of friends whose main goal in life seems to be aggravating and embarrassing him as often as possible. Then Cassidy, the presumably deceased younger brother of one of Andrew’s roommates, turns up at an occult store just off campus, spurring a romance that equal parts attraction and aggravation—Andrew doesn’t want to want Cassidy, who seems to enjoy needling him above all else, but he finds himself drawn further into his life, regardless. Add to that a campus super hero and a roommate sliding ever further into criminality, and Andrew’s life is about to get extremely complicated.
Or: a crooked romance involving a dandy superhero, a series of kitchen fires, a slanderous romance manuscript, stoner music shops, an arguably-mad scientist, a terrible indie band, a blue period, and a pair of mildly star-crossed lovers that meet in an occult store, spend a lot of time in office hours, and wind up in a newspaper.
