Summary
You destroy a universe (with help, of course) and when you wake up in your bed on an Earth that is whole and totally not a ruin, you think things are pretty great. When you find there are three trolls with you, alive and well (and ok, angry too), you think things are pretty fantastic. When you find out your friends are alive, they're in their own beds and homes and have their own trollish company, you think things couldn't be better.
You couldn't be more wrong.
Well, actually, that's a lie. Everyone agrees that this is better than dying out in the veil, right? And it won't be that hard to settle a dozen trolls onto Earth, will it? It's just that when you dreamed about meeting up with everyone and making friends, this wasn't quite (or at all) what you expected.
Actually, Karkat is exactly as advertised. It’s everything else that’s a disaster.

Vriska asks her what the hell she thinks she’s doing and in a fit of honesty she tells the troll A Sort Of Ashen Mediation Between Two Matesprites and Vriska laughs so long and so hard that Kanaya blocks her, shuts off the computer completely and spends the rest of the day wandering the woods around Rose and Jade’s home. When she returns they ask if something is wrong and she says it’s nothing and they let her lie.

(It's funny, he thinks, how he can set up a whole windy barrier around a house almost an hour away from civilization and they still try to get inside when they think the Empress is visiting. Of course, the worst are the tabloids convinced they're having an illicit interspecies romance and desperate for any photo they can take. Last week’s Enquirer had a cover story featuring an image of John screaming as tiny sea troll babies burst from his stomach. The tagline had read HUMANS TO HOST ALIEN OFFSPRING and John hadn’t even bothered to turn to page 2. Funny how the truth would have worried humanity more; it was such a good idea he’d talked Feferi out of telling them everything right away.)

Summary
I lick the night sky with my tongue-like eyeballs.
Wallow in the world as it spins, round and round.
Staggers on wobbling roads void of any coin.
Stampedes board trains, bound for past the grave.Easier than the first thought, the brakes are misplaced.
Pretend to look for them. Ah, it's a monkey show.
Don't wanna drink, but I swallow, not spitting it out.
Bog boat journey goes on. Come on, have another cup. It's extremely effective on my brain, I see.
The side affects are triple on me. An idiot's drug it may be.
A distrait life of mistakes. There goes my future.
Uncured me's here to stay, thanks to an idiot's drug.~Hatsune Miku, "Idiot's Drug."

Summary
“Ya see, Sandy?” Bunnymund is saying. “Quit your worrying. The kid says he’s fine.”
And almost, it ends there. Almost, they go their separate ways and let it stand for another four years, or another three hundred, for even Sanderson wonders whether he has been mistaken, after all. But Jack is agreeing with the Guardian of Hope, carrying obliviously onward. “Am I ever,” the boy says, fervently. “The 21st century’s great. You wouldn’t believe what people just throw out these days.”
The admission comes like a wave striking rocks on a stony shore; it raises icy splashes of dread wherever its spray hits. Three horrified stares – and one that is not so terribly surprised – turn to the boy’s face.
The spirit of winter falters to a stop, the reaction not the one he had anticipated. “What?” he asks.
