☛ In which I shamelessly torture Clint for my own amusement, because character torture hurts so good.
He knew the other male would never complain, but he had to be miserable. He was too good of an agent to complain. That was what Phil liked about him. He was quiet, he followed orders, and he never talked back. On the other hand, he was submissive as a lamb when it came to his superiors and couldn't say no. Sometimes Phil needed to know if Barton was reaching the end of his rope, or his limits. More than once Barton had pushed himself too far trying to complete a mission. Phil liked to think he knew what Barton could handle, but there was always a flicker of doubt.
