Comment says it all: "This is amazing -- you really put some awesome meat on the bones of the canon, and I love the sympathetic and strong looks at Mermista and Frosta especially. Wonderful and gorgeously written." I don't know aaaaaaanything about She-Ra, and the canonical proper nouns are ridic; but this story is perfect. Except clearly it should be about a hundred thousand words longer.

I don't know the canon this is based off of, but the tags/collection details are right: I didn't need to. The tags are also right to say this is disturbing, because it is; but it's also fantastic and unsettling and riveting and painful, women in terrible situations having to make terrible decisions.
The first commenter on Chapter 3 says it better than I can: "The picture you've painted here of the way these girls live, the way they make lives and families out of nothing, out of hell, the desperateness with which they love each other, the brutality with which they protect each other... All of it is just so powerful. It's horrible and painful, but it's also wonderful and life affirming in the way that the sort of tiny, ugly plants that grow where nothing else can are." What I didn't know I wanted and definitely didn't get from the movie. Beautifully, eerily plausible, particularly considering the movie's ending; ambiguous + (creepy x badass) = awesome. I only wish it were longer!
