In a Middle Earth where dwarves dream of Heartsongs and hobbits carry the name of their fated partner as private Mark, Bilbo Baggins had never been able to properly translate the strange rows of runes inscribed on his wrist.
And likewise, Thorin Oakenshield had never imagined he would hear the voice of his Heartsong from a fussy little gentlehobbit.

Smith picked up a book. The golden letters on the cover twisted, shuffling and re-shuffling: The Book of Dragons. The Book of Maps. The Book of Faery.
He put down the book and fumbled in his pockets, though he was sure that nothing he had could pay for such a marvel. The golden letters brushed themselves into a new title: The Book of Nell.

Transformed by an unexpected spell, Fenris finds himself frighteningly helpless, unable to communicate the nature of his plight. Anders is just tickled pink to have a kitty again. Sort of Fenris/Anders, but not quite; possibly more angst than you expect.
