Either way, a bit of love and nursing to health, then his charges would be ready for trial, and a rewarding, happy home. You'd seen trolls on television and YouTube, they were popular exotic pets with celebrities. Certain breeds were even useful for guide pets and companion animals for the elderly. Since they were almost-sentient, of course. Almost.

Summary
In which seven and a half sweeps old Karkat Vantas, member of her Imperial Luminesce's Threshecutioner Corps, takes his moirail's kismesis out on an errand, encounters a variety of problems to do with sea monsters, becomes involved in excruciatingly complicated relationship tangles with his moirail's kismesis' inclade and ends up flipping as many tables as he does quadrants. Contains two ocean-going fight scenes, one lusus, distressing incidences of clown cultism, his lawyer, and absolutely no interactions with the quinity whatsoever.

In which Eridan Ampora, seven-sweeps seadwelling ne'er-do-well, goes to market for his moirail, gets caught up in a political intrigue, is sent on an errand by his employer who is not coincidentally his kismesis, partners up with his kismesis' moirail and blunders into exactly as many problems as a fishtroll would expect. Includes two major fight scenes, religious blasphemy, zombies, some inappropriately passionate kisses and an inordinate amount of blueblood thugs.

Dave realizes he has a most unfortunate crush on his best friend. This is obviously a great foundation for a black relationship with Karkat. Competitive flirting is a thing that exists, the kids try out various bits of troll culture, Dave makes consistently excellent decisions and generally has his priorities in order (no he doesn't), and there's a whole lot of talking.

Summary
Terezi Pyrope is a Neophyte Legislacerator looking to lease an administrative assistant. She was not expecting to find Dave Strider, a secretarial asset with a sense of integrity as strong as her own.
Dave Strider is a secretarial asset with "personality problems" that would have gotten him culled if not for his otherwise exemplary administrative abilities. He finds himself drawn into the quadrants of the would-be social reformer who leased him. He finds he is surprisingly Okay with this.
Both their lives become interesting (in the curse sense) when the Heiress retains Pyrope and her team.
