Maybe it's something else that was included in the lyrium ceremony, or something - just an idea, feel free to use your own. I'm not talking about turning him into a mage, per se.
Anyway, I'd love to see something with Fenris as an actual wolf (some of the time).

Summary
Anders is kidnapped and forced to undergo a mysterious ritual that results in the growth of wings. The attempts of his friends to care for him as he tries to recover are frustrated by their own shock and horror at what happened to him, and he finds true compassion in the oddest place of all: Fenris, who will have to deal with this unwanted desire to help the mage he has always hated.
