After leaving the Red Room, but before SHIELD started showing interest in her, Natasha felt very free to explore the world and have fun between missions on her own terms. All she wants this time is a perfectly pleasing one night stand. She doesn't expect she'll meet this guy ever again.

A follow up piece to New Mexico State of Mind. This one is set post-Avengers movie (2012).
Natasha sits at Clint's bedside, prepared for anything other than what the doctor tells her. She knows, in her heart of hearts, that she's the last person he needs beside him while he goes through this rehabilitation. For his own good, she walks away. And then comes back again.

Clint Barton wants enough money to retire. Steve Rogers wants to start an orphanage. Having Clint impersonate a knight to enter the tournament circuit seems like a better bet than fighting in the Holy Land for another ten years. And, really, how hard can it be to pretend to be a knight?
Lady Natasha Romanoff navigates the social world of the tournament for her own ends. But she has plans that go beyond playing the perfect noblewoman. How will she react when a common upstart threatens those plans?
