Chasing down a giant green lizard who's trying to turn the whole city into mutant goo was bound to catch attention. It's just his luck that it happens to be the big-secret-government-agency-with-an-impossible-to-pronounce-name attention.
Or, in which Peter already wasn't dealing well with the whole Spiderman thing, and then all of this happened. He has his own problems, but somehow or another he keeps stumbling into other people's too. Pre-Avengers.
