It's simple, it's cute, it's solid all around.

Good pick-me-up fic: a nice, quick fix for a gloomy day. It's adorable in all the right ways and had me smiling all the way through.

    Summary

There’s always something, of course— sister-not-brother, botox-not-tetanus, but alive-not-dead, that’s not your garden-variety blunder. John crawled on hands and knees through the five stages of grief— raw skin, ragged fingernails and all. Turns out they were listed wrong, John should’ve swapped the first and last, and isn’t this a fucking epiphany, that he was closer to the truth when he was in denial.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Absolutely gorgeous writing. Another reviewer described it as "sharp and pointy" and I definitely agree. There are many great lines, but here is my favorite: "London’s lit and dancing grids; in its crawling necklaces of headlights and neat, domino-stacks of high-mast streetlamps. Like a deranged, unwieldy constellation, plucked from the sky, coloured warm-yellow, and flattened onto the ground."

Absolutely gorgeous line, I just want to roll down the words of this sentence like a child down a hill. Or maybe roll up in this sentence like a burrito. Anyway. The entire scene this line is from is also genius. If you want angsty Johnlock with just the right amount of spirited banter, a storyline that leaves you feeling like you're dangling off an emotional precipice, and an ending that feels like a healing balm, you've come to the right place. If you like an author with a distinct writing style, you'll also find it here.

    Summary

John has been plagued by a secret his entire life that has made him feel hopeless until he meets a mysterious, seemingly omniscient man named Sherlock Holmes who owns a wish-granting shop. Their meeting sets off a series of inevitable events that will change the course of both of their lives forever.

This story involves magic, ghosts, eventual johnlock, and cameos by some of our favorite characters in unsuspecting places.

Also, this is a fusion with xxxHOLiC, which very few people know of, but don't let that scare you away - you don't need to know a single thing about it to enjoy this story. I've just borrowed some plot elements to make a Sherlock fusion.

    It's inevitable.

It's inevitable that you'll fall in love with this script with it's perfect plot, characterization, and environment. And I do mean perfect. The plot especially. When it all finally came together it kind of blew my mind. Also, there is a host of side characters, including many recognizable ones from Sherlock, that are so delightful. I fell in love with the Sherlock characters in this new environment.

The relationship between John and Sherlock thickens surely as the plot does. This magical realism fic with spirits and monsters and trips to others worlds is, at its core, a love story. And it's lovingly, cleverly told. Loneliness can draw two people together. Wishes can change the fate of centuries. It's really quite grand scale and small scale all at the same time.

    Bookmarker's Notes

One of the first Sherlock fic I ever read. I forgot to bookmark it immediately and have been searching for it when, voila! At last I have found it again.

I'm not sure 'it's so good!' is an accurate description. It's mindblowingly good would be more apt! There's sentiment, snappy banter, Sherlock's excellent one-liners, and an actual real portrayal of John recovering from grief.

I can't really sum up why I love this fic so much. It just feels right. It's such an excellent recovery fic, and the love between John and Sherlock grows slowly and strong. It isn't rushed or forced, it isn't even all that romantic truth be told. Their bond is forged over so many deep and dark events. But it's not a depressing fic! I don't know how to describe it. It's just wonderful!

Excellent insight. Won't say anything else so as to not spoil the reveal, but very nicely done. Head-cannon accepted!
