"Clint makes a decision in the field he's pretty sure will kill him. His last act before he jumps/walks into the portal/makes his sacrifice is saying 'I love you, sir' to Coulson over the radio. Then - Hulk makes the catch with his fingertips/the portal spirits him off to Guam/bomb doesn't go bang. And every other Avenger heard his 'last words'.
