Berwald had things to say. But he didn't dare say them. Not until they were all asleep, and he spoke them softly to himself. Maybe he didn't need them to hear, but he needed to say them. And so the sun rose and fell, just like any day. Words said and words not said came and went, and all forgot. As if it wasn't important to start with.
"Why do you always look like that?" She asked, and you cocked your head up in surprise. You don't remember hearing her come in.
"Like what?" You ask kindly, nonchalantly, but you knew exactly what she meant. You always saw it in the mirror, when you got up in the morning, when you were going to bed. It was always there, even behind those stupid shades that sat next to you now.
"Like you're haunted. Like... you're running away. What are you running from, Dirk?"
- Part 1 of Human.
It's summer-break and Loki's dad has hired a team of contractors to work on their new house. New as in just-moved in; there's nothing new about the old, rickety Victorian he's forced them to move into. And Loki's bitter—bitter about the move, not knowing anyone in this new town, and having to leave his few (but important) friends. But his father said they needed a fresh start and that was that, all of Loki’s protests falling on deaf ears.
Now, Loki tries to ignore the team of workers who have taken over his back-yard as they embark on a much-needed reno project. But, the one with the long blonde hair and the boming voice has taken a special liking to him. He flirts, he winks; he goes out of his way to tease Loki. Loki finds himself spending more time talking to "Thor" than he would like. He also finds himself blushing around Thor more than he would like. One day, Thor stumbles across Loki doing something he really shouldn't be... and suddenly Thor has decided to make Loki his after-work "project."
