Harry is certain everyone, including himself, would have been better served if Voldemort really had managed to kill him. Harry can only think of one person who has come as close to death as he has, and in a last-ditch effort to go on living, he seeks out Snape.
Snape knows that history repeats for those who do not learn from it. And though history does indeed seem to be repeating itself, this time the roles are reversed and nothing goes how he expects.
