On top of all of that, Brendon's in high school, she's kind of desperately lonely, and she's also pretty sure she's gay.
It's only after she starts hanging out with Z, Tennessee, and Greta, a group of friends who call themselves riot grrrls, that things seem to go right for Brendon, and she finally starts to realize that the one heart she needs to worry about the most isn't her mom's or dad's. It's her own.
