Summary
After Cuba, Mystique finds herself struggling to accumulate to life in the Mutant Brotherhood. A character study that seeks to reconcile Raven's character in FC with Mystique as she appears in the first two X-men films, while also looking at how several of the other characters in FC grew into their future selves.
Mystique didn't like the other members of the Brotherhood as much as she thought she should. The others have been more deeply damaged than her, and that made them stronger than she was – harder and more experienced. Older. She recognized now more than ever how sheltered she was in her life in Charles's home, how his view of the world had been calculated to keep her tame and small. She felt this past privilege as a character flaw that would need to be corrected before she could hope to fit in. She realized that she was on the cusp of becoming a completely different person, and believed correctly that when she would look back on herself years from now, it would be as though she were looking back at a person she had never known.
Azazel was the one who frightened her the most, so she looked to him to learn how to be strong. It was a long time before she realized that he was looking back.

Summary
"At first, everyone chalked it up to hero worship brought on by Logan's involvement in their escape from Weapon X. Logan surprised them all by tolerating the attention with what passed for good-natured humor, Wolverine-style. He's not sure what amazes the others more: Bobby's attachment to him, or the fact that he appears to reciprocate."
