A very quick fic done off a challenge on Tumblr and because one of the many things I disliked about FMA 2003 was how poorly it treated Winry, including how she was turned into a damsel-in-distress plot device for that episode and I thought a little role-reversal was in order.

Summary
The year is 1924, and Ed is juggling a job as a professor at the University of Central City and two children who have just lost their mother with no explanation. Struggling to provide closure, he hires Vato, Breda, and Furey, all three of who know run their own private investigator firm in Central City, to discover what her last day had been like, and if there was any possibility that she may be alive.
In the background, tensions between Amestris and Drachma rise to epic proportions. Drachma in no way trusts the newly-democratic country after the debacle that had preceded its birth, and riots are now frequent in the capital against Drachman immigrants and travelers. Ed gets an up close look when he is given a Drachman aide, straight from the Mother Country, who seems to be the sole target of the entire school's distrust... but is it for good reason?
Meanwhile, political tensions rise in the capitol building as more and more intelligence comes in about a disturbing plot brewing in Drachma.- Words:
