In an alternate reality, in "Passion," Angelus kills Giles, Xander, Willow, and Oz after he murders Jenny, and grief-stricken Buffy inadvertently wishes that she and her friends had lived normal lives, like they would've if she wasn't the Slayer and they weren't on the Hellmouth. She wakes up in an alternate universe, five years later, with no memories of her life as the Slayer, until she starts having memories in the form of dreams. Suddenly, she, Xander, Willow, and Oz, 23 year olds with perfectly mundane lives, are confronted with the supernatural, and introduced by Angel Investigations to a world out of balance that only they can set straight.
