Cas glanced at him, attention still held by the documentary. "Yes?"
Dean turned to look out the window, discomfort in every line of his body. He took a deep breath. "I could help you clean them if you wanted?" he said quickly, avoiding the angel's eyes. "I, uh, did some research on bird wings. They're kinda similar, right?"
Cas stared at him, speechless for a moment. "You would do that?"
Dean sat abruptly on the other bed and gave an awkward smile. "Yeah, Cas. That's what friends are for, right? And family? To help you out when you can't do something yourself?"
Cas didn't look convinced.

Sam and Dean Winchester are in trouble - they took on a case expecting a simple demon kill, and instead found themselves outnumbered by at least a dozen demons and a few other.. creatures. There looks to be no way out, but as the knife comes down towards Sam's heart there's a blinding flash of light. When it fades, the monsters are all dead or gone. What just happened? The prophet knows.
Sam is important, to someone in very high places. Important enough to warrant a guardian.

Dean's been an angel for three days now. He's still getting used to the weight of wings between his shoulder blades and feeling as if he could spontaneously combust at any given moment, but it's not all that bad. And Castiel seems to be inexplicably happy that Dean now has Grace like him, is a bottled force of power, strong and immovable just like Castiel himself.
Dean doesn't really understand that, but he's not going to complain. Not when the angel smiles more often than not now and can't seem to keep his hands, or his wings, off of Dean.
The only problem is, Dean is the equivalent of a baby angel; a fledgling. He's new to everything and daftly inexperienced thus making him a little wild. He's also impatient. But Cas, who has taken it upon himself to teach Dean the ways of the angel, is a fervent teacher and so Dean puts forth his best effort to learn to be the best damn angel Castiel has ever known.
