Summary
Little 307 gapfiller after Veronica is attacked in the parking lot. Logan and Keith take care of her.
“I want to see.” Veronica remembers the buzz of the clippers; metal against her scalp.
“Veronica, you should rest.”
She doesn’t budge, and after a few seconds he takes the mirror and holds it up behind her. With his other hand, he brushes away the hair from the back of her head. Veronica looks at her reflection until her eyes blur with tears, and Logan wraps her up in his arms. He whispers that he’s sorry, even though he shouldn’t be.
Her voice is muffled against his chest. “You always come for me.”

Summary
Weevil and Logan talk, and Lilly causes trouble from beyond the grave.
Weevil isn’t sure why he cares, but he opens his mouth and there it is. “I just hope you treat her better than you did Lilly.” He turns back to the wall and scans it, groaning softly when he sees that he really did miss a spot.
“What?”
Glancing over his shoulder, Weevil realizes Logan is still there. “I think you heard me.”
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
Here they go. Weevil faces him. “Do I have to spell it out for you?”
“Apparently.”
“I saw the bruises for myself. After July 4th.”
“Bruises? What are you talking about?” He seems genuinely confused, but acting is in the blood.

Summary
Years after Duncan leaves Neptune, he and Logan get the chance to say goodbye.
Even from far away, Logan recognizes him immediately — the set of his shoulders, the way he leans on his right leg and cocks his hand on his hip. It’s so familiar, and suddenly they are in the hallway at school, or playing video games, or giggling in the pool, splashing Lilly on her deck chair and making her curse like a sailor. Logan blinks, half-expecting him to disappear, but instead Duncan throws his head back and laughs. Just like he used to.
Logan smiles. He’d know his best friend anywhere.

Set a few years down the road from high school. Logan hits rock bottom. Keith and Veronica help him back up.
Weevil cuts to the chase. “Logan’s in trouble.”
Veronica half laughs. “What else is new? I thought something was actually wrong.” She doesn’t have to work too hard to affect her uncaring tone. Logan and Veronica have broken up and made up many times. The last parting wasn’t particularly pleasant. Keith didn’t ask for details, but he could guess.
“He got into a fight at the In-N-Out.”
Veronica rolls her eyes. “Must be a day that ends in ‘y’.”
Weevil sighs. “You don’t know, do you?”
Veronica asks what they don’t know, and Keith’s gut clenches. It's always something.
“They found what’s left of his mother’s body.”

At the sound of the front door closing, they both froze. Veronica’s voice rang out through the house. “Logan?”
Wallace’s heart began pounding as he hissed, “I thought she was working the closing shift!”
Before Logan could answer, Veronica walked into the bedroom.
“It’s…it’s not what it looks like,” Wallace stammered.

“Okay.” After a few more seconds of silence, Keith adds, “It would help if you talked, then.”
“I was just wondering if you were free sometime this weekend, maybe you could help me out. I kinda need some advice.”
“On which new car to buy?”
Logan laughs. “No, they’re fixing the X-terra. Sorry to break it to you.”

Sort-of sequel to In Case of Emergency and The Pursuit of Happiness. This time the focus is on Veronica and Logan. We didn't get to see their first time on the show, so I had to write it. Of course nothing is easy for these two.
“The last time we talked, you didn’t remember it the next day.”
Shame flushes his face. “I want to make it right.”
“Maybe we do better when we don’t talk.”
“Veronica, we both keep pretending everything’s fine. Like nothing happened.”
“I thought we’d decided to move past it. Go forward. Onwards and upwards.”
“Veronica—”
“Look, if you don’t want to have sex, all you need to do is say so.”

Logan gets a concussion and Veronica's out of town.
Keith lets go of Logan's arm, but sticks close by as they make their way through the crowded ER. Outside, the fresh air seems to help, and Logan climbs into the car without assistance. As they head out towards the shore, Logan looks over in confusion. “The hotel’s the other way.”
“I know. You’re coming back to my place. Doctor says you can’t stay alone.”
“But I’m fine. Really, I appreciate it, but—”
Keith pulls up to a red light and fixes Logan with A Look. “This isn’t up for debate. Doctor’s orders.”
Logan turns to the window, and quietly says, “Okay.”

“But…” Veronica wants to argue with this, but she can’t. She remembers Liam’s threats, but more than that, she remembers Lamb’s smirk that morning.

Veronica jerks her head, a nod. The press would eat it up. Eat Logan alive.

She can feel his eyes on her. “I promise.”
