Sherlock Holmes is Gentleman Death in silk and lace-- a cold, cynical vampire ever-desperate for something to break the tedium of eternity. He finds it in Dr. John Watson, a depressed war-hero committing slow suicide through drink and the dangers of London's gambling dens.
Their strange friendship is fraught with difficulty from the onset-- but their lives truly take a turn for the macabre when they find themselves at the center of a gruesome (and infamous) murder spree.

It's been over a year since Sherlock Holmes jumped from the top of St Bart's, and while John Watson may be living, he's not doing much else. When a dead man turns up, alive and well, in his living room, John has questions. When said dead man reveals himself to be a vampire, John has a hell of a lot more questions.
Sherlock found living without John to be intolerable, but now that he's returned it's so much harder to hold himself back. Something has to give. Sherlock just hopes it's not John's life. -

For one hundred and forty years, Vampires have ruled England and taken most humans as slaves and blood donors. Mycroft Holmes finds himself with a child born into slavery and parents no longer alive to raise him. The child is gifted to Sherlock Holmes as a means to create the perfect slave to cease the younger Holmes' constant requesting and dismissing of slaves.
The problem with this child is he is a Watson, and the blood of an Abolitionist Leader runs in his veins. It seems no matter how hard they try over the years, it might be too late for Sherlock and his slave Lestrade to keep a budding rebel under the Vampiric Government's radar any longer...

Contracts can be bought for children as young as 15, and the vampires may claim their year of service any time until age 35, when they expire, claimed or not. John's family was poor and had a contract for him. He thought he was out of the woods when at age 34, Sherlock appears to claim his year of service.
