Dave doesn't know what it means, but he does know it's a game, a real game, and somethings happening to the people around town because of it. They should be just dreams, but there's something about them, about the game he's being forced to play, that tells Dave there's much more to it than he could ever imagine. He could never decide who was right on the topic of what dreams were, until his dream wake.
