'What I Learned at SRU' is an Avatar: The Last Airbender & Legend of Korra-inspired modern day college series about friendship, romance, family...and growing up. It is NOT your stereotypical fluffy nonsense high-school stuff. It is NOT a re-telling of the series, it is an original plot with backstories and certain pieces heavily inspired by The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra story, but using them as springboards to explore different scenarios and modern events. It's a massive fanfiction/fanart (200+ arts and counting) project that could perhaps be best summarized as Avatar: TLA/LoK meets How I Met Your Mother in a college setting (though less comedy and perhaps more drama/friendship/feelings...?). It is a huge love letter and narrative reply to the Avatar series, exploring themes concerning young adulthood. As such, it is a bit too complicated to decide what the most fitting tags are.

So this was a short fic I wrote for my totally cool friend, Clem. She wanted a short story without shipping soooo I created a story that tries to explain how the rest of the Gaang tried to deal with Angst Aang.
I based this festival off of the Chinese Shangsi Festival, which, according to Wikipedia (May Agni always watch over its vast stores of electronic knowledge) is a celebration where people picnic and pick orchards. It is to purify oneself and rid oneself of bad luck. So I associated it with Ba Sing Se celebrating how there was no war and how lucky the great city was.

Just that one action sends Team Avatar through a series of emotional flip-flops that are only aided by the rumblings and bumps to sooth the tired nations.
